It depends if you have the old or newer generation y-pipe. I know Stillen's first gen y-pipe had a design flaw... The hanger mount was placed before the flex section when it should have been behind. Not only that, the mount can hit the hanger under hard acceleration causing the vibration or banging noise. Most people with the older y-pipe just cut that hanger mount off the pipe. The next time I take the ypipe off my car, I'm going to cut the whole thing off... Right now, I trimmed it to the point where it usually doesn't bang against it. This info is for the 5th gen.. But I believe the 4th gen is the same.
