Saturday night was really funny
All the local car enthusiasts (& wannabe street racers) are hangin' out and talking in front of the donut shop... when 10 Police cruisers blockade the parking aisles out in front of the store in a full show of force. Their leader (as far as I could determine) does not believe that everyone present is a customer. 30 people raise their purchases in the air
Then he tells us that we cannot be eating our donuts on the patio. According to him, we ALL must go inside to eat or leave the premises.
So about 30 people cram themselves into a 40 sqaure foot donut shop! It was like a giant party, only we made the shop's owner happy because drink weren't on the house (so profits were way up that night!). Then the leader started walking around ticketing cars in the parking lot. He got a few people for improper front license plate display & tinted windows. He also started ticketing Wal Mart employee's cars by mistake... which made the crowd in the donut shop go wild with laughter
All in all, it was a real entertaining night. I'm sure our civil rights were violated & all, but I CAN see both sides of the story. From their perspective, a large gathering like that might be a liability for public safety. I wish there was a way to get a permit to congregate or something... Land of the free
