Next update continuing on the last one.....
I made a new horizontal part for the bottom edge from the grill ...
On the next picture i also glued the undersection from the bumpoer back into its position and started to make the bottom left and right edges round again...
To continue now with this front section the hood needs to be taken of.
To ensure the whole part will be strong enough after removal of the hood i glued an extra strip along the window side.
The hood is then marked nicely parallel with yellow tape.
The edge from the fender will need to have a clean cut and the hood part which will be removed is gonna be replaced by a new part from styrene.
For that i put also yellow tape over the fenders along the line from the hood.
And removed the tape from the hood...
Also the section which will be in front of the windscreen is taped off, this part will only be an example for me to make a new item from styrene also.
With a small circular saw in my Dremel i cut out the hood...
Two 0,5mm strips were then glued inside against the top edge of the fenders.
From several pieces 0,3 - 0,5mm styrene sheet i made a new internal front plate and glued it in place.
Alos along both sides of the fenders two small horizontal strips were glued to support the new hood.
This car doesn't have real lights at the front because they woukld be to heavy, instead of them they made carbon fibre copies which are mounted against a carbon plate, part of the new front, see below the example.
These parts made from 0,5 mm styrene sheet..
And a square strip at the back to support the part, also by the real car.
When scratching your own model sometime things aren't always going the way you want.
Also in this case because after test fitting the front of the car on the chassi i found that the edge, which will be in front of the windscreen, doesn't fit that good anymore.
There's an opoen gap from 8mm and thats to much so i will have to modify somthing, in this case the front of the chassis.
To finf out how much to remove i cut away the bottom part from the body frontsection.
The next picture shows the "to much" part from the chassis which will be need to cut off.
Now i could go further with the front section.
To prevent dirt of coming in into the engine bay there are carbon fiber inserts which will run along the edge of the chassis, made from 1,5mm square staff and 0,3mm sheet.
The 1:1
To fit this front onto the chassis some pins are in place which will slide in the front of the chassis beams.
I made them from 1mm alu tube.
Last part of this update will be the front bumper/spoiler.
It exists out of a big carbon plate at the bottom (wind splitter) with a slightly thicker part in the middle.
I have good pictures from this piece so i made a drawing of it with all the neccesary dimensions.
Large plate from 0,5 mm sheet and the thicker part from 1mm sheet.
From several other pictures i made a template/drawing from the edge were the bumper goes up.
The lower edge from the bumper is straight up, so i made a strip from o,5mm sheet and glued it in place along the 1mm square strip in the splitter.
The oval middle support is made from a 10mm styrene tube pushed oval.
Onto the middle part comes a horizontal section made from 0,3mm sheet and 2mm square staff.
Next picture shows middle opart in place and i'm busy with determing the angle from the bumper to the nose of the car.
And started to mould it..
Till so far , see u all next time.
