if your getting a code for one of the wheels, redoing that ground usually won't fix it, but your right it is a good preventative maintenance. Depending on year that ground effects a lot of things. I have fixed to many things but just cleaning up that ground that I don't ignore it. I don't always clean it, depending on what condition its in, but trust me it does help in the long run. So now that you have a direction the best of luck, hopefully its just a sensor, if its in the truck side of the wiring that can be a pain unless its easily accessible.
