Hello guys,
I'm planning to start the engine on my GTO after about 5 years of sitting in the garage. the engine had no mechanical problems, the only problem was the + cable from the battery to the starter, i finally got a replacement and planning to start the engine.
it's a 455 HO engine, I will do the below steps before starting it up, my question is should I do anything else or in a different order before starting?
1 drain and change the engine coolant from the radiator and the engine.
2 change the oil and oil filter.
3 change the spark plug.
4 drain the fuel from the carburator and fuel tank and fill new fuel.
5 pump fuel manually (pumping fuel pump manually? is there a better way?).
6 turn the engine with a wrench on the crank nut couple of turns.
7 start the engine.
Main Question, should I spray DW40 or miracle oil on the piston heads from the spark plug holes and let it soak before turning the engine manually? or is there any other way of making sure the pistons rings are loose?
thanks guys, appreciate any advice and help.
Cheers
Tony
