I feel your pain brother, especially with all the aftermarket wiring I have in my car.
Here's what you do...breathe deep, in through the nose and out the mouth, have a beer, and put on your favorite CD.
Then, take the time, and take the dash off and trace that wire. And while you're at it and the dash is off (which really isnt that hard) check everything else just to be sure and to save yourself from having to remove the dash n such in the future.
Your tailight, got the bulb in correctly? I once had the same problem turns out I put the bulb in wrong and went nuts for an hour trying to figure out what was wrong?
Wiring is really one of the easiest things to do after any high school physics class, the problem is theres a lot of things between switch and cool stuff that can come apart easy.
Unfortunately, the best thing is to just take the time, buy your self a wiring kit, and do everything right and tightly.
Good luck man, seriously I feel your pain, try wiring in a PA system - oi!
