I’ve always had a soft spot for Tarmac Rally Cars and now and then a kit comes out that ‘looks’ just right. Be it the right stance, or the right accessories.
This happened with the 1/12 Model Factory Hiro Lancia S4. From the moment I saw the build pictures I just had to get it, especially after mourning the sale of my Autoart Die Cast Lancia S4 Monte Carlo version which is now too expensive to replace!
They got the stance right, I loved the finned cooling covers over the wheels and it came with the light pod! Excellent!
I ordered the kit from Autograph in Germany and it came in a few days!
Opening a MFH kit is a new and exciting feeling! I’ve built plastic, resin and white metal kits but this felt like another level! Turned wheels, every detail part like hose connectors and P/E belts included!
The white metal parts are over whelming and must be 2 kilos worth of the weight of the box!
They are all clumped together and not attached to sprues so my first job was to go through them all, I identify them and bag them according to part sequence. This alone took a week of evenings!
After building lots of reference material the build began:
The skid pan is painted silver according to the instructions but according to photos its a cream colour. I used Tamiya light sand and then added some shading with Rust Tamiya weathering powder.
All the fittings on the driveshaft and steering arms are this True Metal wax based paint. I'm very happy with it, it goes on nicely!
