Hi people,

Just curious if any insight about a minimal issue I'm having with this car. 5.0L, car has been in the family since bought new in 88. For the last few years it sat, not being used or run. I went right ahead and installed the 3G alt upgrade with a new alt listed for a 94-95 GT. Got the wiring kit online, made it easy. I'm getting good reads voltage wise 14.3-14.5 at idle. I see why the upgrade is necessary, it was dismal charging before, with all the accessories running. Everything works well, readings are good, but I have a repetitive tick that sounds precisely like it is coming from the alternator. At first I thought it was arcing, but checked with no lights and no sight of arcing anywhere near the back of the alt. It's just a constant ticking sound coming from it. It does not change with idle. And nothing is adversely affected by it.

So can new alts make clicking/ticking noise? Does this have to do with the clocking of the alt? Thanks for your responses.
