I would install a test pressure gauge. The fuel pump has a check valve which could be leaking bleeding all the pressure out of the system.
http://www.tooltopia.com/ sells a 5/16 inline check valve with two crimp washers for connection if you don't want to replace the fuel pump.
search check valve they have both a 3/8 and 5/16
