I fixed my air assist load leveler system finally. It had been leaking air and getting worse for the past couple of years. My air shocks were really clunky, so I replaced them first. Still leaked. I tried finding the leak and just couldn't. Worked on it for quite a bit. Then, last weekend, I ran all new lines from the compressor to the shocks. I bypassed the control unit in the passenger compartment that allows you to fill things with air. It still leaked. Hmmm, must be the compressor. So I went to the junk yard and located the only one they had in there. $55. Brought it home and it is now fixed. What a joy. I have all of the original functionality I had when I purchased the vehicle. It is not difficult at all. You remove three bolts that hold the compressor in, disconnect everything and lower it down. The compressor assembly itself has a one-way valve on it that allows compressed air to enter the system, but then keeps it from escaping. This is probably what failed on mine. Not sure if I can clean it or somehow get it to hold air again. A fun project for some day when I'm board.
