Why would you remove them? That'd be very dangerous if you were in a car accident. Or if your alternator dies while driving and kills your battery, and don't mind crawling through a window (manual roll down ones) or out your trunk/hatch.
However, from a technical aspect, you
could remove them, but it'd be dumb.
