The idea of a self driving car scares me. Imagine an ignition switch going bad, the steering wheel locking, and the self driving car still trying to drive. In my old Oldsmobile, I hit the key with my knee one time on the highway, and locked the wheel right up. Not being a computer, I was able to quickly turn the key and pull over.
Even excluding potential mechanical failures, there's another issue that is very real... idiot drivers. They are everywhere. When one cuts you off, you can slam on the brake and swerve. Of when one tries to merge into your lane, and merge into you, you can swerve. I understand manufacturers are creating new technology, that can emergency brake for you, beep and blink. I just don't see the technology anywhere close to where it would need to be for truly driver-less cars.
For a small property like their headquarters, sure I could see that, on private roads. Still seems like a liability to me.
