Ended up going to an upscale tire & auto center a few miles away today and having the brake system flushed after seeing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqXua44RHOU (not necessarily an endorsement).. mainly because the objective was to force (or suck) all, or nearly all old fluid out. The other thing was handling and disposing of the fluid.

The tech that did the work was an old-timer grey headed guy, and that was good. He says it wasn't that bad compared to some he's seen. I've never the changed brake fluid in 16 years.. probably original. Good to go now!
