Oh yes, i agree; starting to drink in small amounts when you are young is a good idea; I have been given alcohol if i ask for it, so i dont have a great urge to go out and get plastered.

Of course, some ppl go too far, and will drink wayyy to much alcohol at once their first time, and they can die from alcohol poisioning.
