its neither the starter, nor the alternator. suggesting those two things shows how little you actually know about your car, especially since the signs point away from them, as long as the motor isnt just spinning freely and the engine is actually turning. the first thing to check, with someones help of course, is to see if there is spark at each of the plugs. if not, then you know the ignition system is failing and you can dig deeper into that to see which part it is exactly. if there is a strong, consistent spark then the fuel system is the next step. make sure that there is fuel flowing into each cylinder with a strong, consistent pressure. if not, then you dive deeper into that to decide which part is letting you down.
