Why in the world are you jacking it up?

The cable connection is on top of the tranny....it should be just below the brake booster.....with E-brake applied have someone move the shifter(engine off)....if the linkage on top of the tranny does not move, physically rotate the linkage towards the front of the vehicle....this should put it in park.....

If it moves, without moving the shifter in the vehicle, then either the cable is broken, or it has come loose from the shifter(this assumes the cable is attached to the linkage on the tranny)....

So like I said, just lift the hood....have someone move the shifter(ebrake applied), and see if the cable moves where it should be attached to the linkage on top of the tranny....maybe it just popped off the linkage...pop it back on.....should snap in place by squeezing it onto the "ball" with a pair of pliers....
