From the tape rolling up? I never have had it do that, but when I lay down the upside down strips (before flocking applied), I just use a transverse piece of tape on each end to hold them flat while flocking and cutting
The nice thing about masking tape, is that once the flocking applied, it will bend, and shape to corners or ridges
