Okay I guess i'll share what I know about suspension. You should definately go with either a shock/spring or a coilover/spring combination for your CRX. If I were you I'd get adjustable shocks so you can later adjust the stiffness of your ride to your liking. When it comes to springs or coilovers it depends on your ride height and the size of your wheels and what height you're gonna race at at the track. The nice thing about coilovers are you can adjust your ride height whenever you want to, so if you race at a different height you can adjust it. Of course springs are a cheaper way to go, but you can't change the height unless you get a new set. I know a really good set of shocks and coilovers are Koni yellows and Grouns Control Coilovers.
