My hose didn't even crack it just collapsed. I have gotten good use out of it seeing as I'm at 243,000. Over the last few months I have replaced a lot of small parts but nothing major. Don't forget to check the small hose mounted on the drivers side of the engine under the cover. It slipped by me and was in poor condition when it was replaced. One word of caution, the cover may break once it is off as mine did just that. I guess it was set in place but the movement of taking it off broke the now brittle plastic. It looked to be just barely hanging on after so many years of being in place.
