Re: TS-13 alternative over TS paints

Many people prefer the Testors clear vs. Tamiya, but I had issues with it, as I do with nearly every Testors spray product. Maybe it's just my technique, but if shooting from a spray can, I found Tamiya much more forgiving, smoother, and thinner coats. The spray nozzles are 10,000,000,000 times better quality than the junk nozzles used by Testors.

That said, prior to TS 13 becoming obsolete in the US, I've begun decanting my spray clears, as I have done w/many spray colors, and now am using decanted U-Pol clear with great results, and it's much more economical than any hobby paint. I've found it on Ebay. I get the stuff in the gray and white can (Power Can Clear), not the stuff in the silver and orange can.

Testors clear decants/sprays beautifully. One reason I avoid it is that several people I trust report that even after it has cured, it's not impervious to being marked by anything it comes in contact with. If you wrap a model to take to a show, it might damage the paint. I cannot have that, and it's never an issue with TS 13 nor the U-Pol that I've been using.
