Few people know that during the F1's development, with money extremely tight and the entire project in jeopardy, Beatle George Harrison paid for his F1 almost two years in advance, writing a cheque for 540,000 pounds (then $1.3m) to keep the program alive. "You buy my new records, don't you?" he asked his friend Gordon Murray. "Well, I want to buy your car."
