Well as far as I know the Xbox has a faster chip, more memory, and since it also has a hdd drive now worries with messing around with memory cards.
The only down side I can see to it as a system is you have to buy a seperate remote to watch DVDs.
As a piece of technology I think its better than a PS2.
But thats it.
The PS2 simply has a far far better selection of games, and considering MS insistance on doing everything in house, and keeping the code for the Xbox secret it always will.
I dont want a game machine that has the best technology, I want a game machine that plays the best games.
Ok the Xbox has Halo and Sega GT, but the PS2 has TimeSplitters and GT3 Aspec. Not to mention a list of games so long I dont even know 10% of them.
