OK...even after working on cars for 40+ years I'm not getting any smarter. I bought a handle rather than take everything apart without having a replacement. But the Yuk had to go back to the upholstery shop for some other issues, and when I asked the guy to replace the handle he said he just flipped the "child safety lock" switch and it works again. I thought I had done that, but apparently I didn't do it right. Oh, #%*&@!
Anyway, FYI it's not any of the electric switches like the one for the window lock. It's on the edge of the door below the latch and is just a very small plastic lever --- just the kind of thing a CHILD wil play with when getting in or out of the door because it is right at CHILD level eyesight. Sigh :P
