Pennzoil R33 1998 JGTC 1/24

Hi guys, I come from Hong Kong. This is my first thread in AF. My latest project is Pennzoil R33 1998 JGTC. Base kit is Tamiya Calsonic Skyline GT-R which it competed in 1996 JGTC. Therefore, some modifications have to be made.

I didn't expect to have a WIP thread at the very beginning, so no photo was taken in the early stage.
I started the modifications from lowing down the overall height of the car. All wheel arches needed to move upward by about 3mm.

Rear of the bodyshell was rebuilt to replicate the high-downforce version.

Air outlet and vents on engine hood.

Rear Wing was scratchbuild from styrene sheet.

Chassis came from Tamiya R34 1999 JGTC. According to specification, wheelbase of R33 is longer than R34, so I extended the chassis by 3mm such that the wheels can be fit into the wheel arches.

I modified the roll cage from R34 JGTC kit.

Bodyshell was test fit with chassis after primer was applied.

I used Mr. color #4 yellow and #GX4 Chara yellow for body color with ratio 5:1.

Body was masked for two tone color.

After spray work was done, it's time for applying decal. This time, I used Tabu decal which is designed for R33.

Honestly, the quality of the decal is excellent. All size of logo is fit with the body except the "Bridgestone" at front bumper and "Pennzoil" at engine hood.
I replaced the B by Original decal from Tamiya. For the "Pennzoil", I checked that the width of the entire logo is less than the actual car. So I cut it into separate parts and fixed them into position.

Decal work was completed.

Latest progress of the car.
