Re: timing issues

well here is the update, started at the beginning and ,said it probably something stupid,
so i notice that the secondary where stuck and never opening, remove carb and found nothing hanging up, put back on and it hung up again, after back and forth notice that the choke was not letting the secondary open what so ever, re work choke and engine seems to breath better, can't road test till tomorrow, "hope for the best". i notice that i had more vacum on driver side carb port then passinger side after useing vacum guage to check, so i reverse vacum lines and it ran and sounded great, no pops! now is that a good thing to do?
i will test drive tomorrow with dist. vacum on passenger side, i also notice the gasket i had was four holes on a spread board manifold, so i change gaskets to a square hole and that also seem to help. my question is would a spacer help me create more vacum? the timing does not jump, brand new chain when engine was built, i have a standard timing light so no dial to advance, what i did was probably was not right , but i time it by sound and just gut feeling and that put the mark set at 18 with out vacum after i check with again with light, advance timimg is around 30 so i will test drive in the morning to wake up the neighbor hood!and give a report later
