Re: Which car for a big guy

HappyBuddah,

I am 6'4, 260 lbs. I recently sold my Infiniti M45 in March due to gas and the uncomfortable feeling of having to watch my head while I sat into to avoid slamming my head on the door/roof framing. I bought a Camry and it seems to have the same issue. My live-in housekeeper Just bought a Nissan Sentra. i drove it when she brought it home and surprisingly there was extra head room and it was an easy in and out. You might want to look in to test driving that car.

As far as 4th of July sales, they might say they are cheaper but at the end of the day you need to go to KBB and see what the value of the car you wish to buy and check out what the MSRP is. The ones printed on the car at dealers is bogus and obviously marked up. They tried to add a fee of 2000.00 for a simple car alarm that was included in the car but you have to stand firm and tell them you have a better deal elsewhere and see how much lower they go.
I have found that the bigger dealers usually negotiate better since they have a larger inventory and have much more room for negotiation.

One tactic that I used when I bought my Lincoln Navigator in 2001 was that I negotiated with the salesman and once they came to a set price I had my brother look at the same truck at another dealer and tell the salesman that I was at another dealer getting ready to sign and asked what was the best price he could offer without telling him what the other dealer was offering and he gave us a price of $41,900.00 compared to the $45,000 where I was sitting.

It's all a psychological game. Good luck!
