Hi, I'm currently working on finishing off this same kit. The mesh is best attached with white glue (PVA) rather than plastic cement - it isn't plastic, so it won't stick with the cement as well, and you'll run the risk of messy mistakes if the cement runs onto your paint.

Your paint coat looks ok to me. Be careful with polishing - I'm also a beginner, and I'm yet to get polishing right. I've gone through the paint on all the kits I've tried it with.

I might try to get some pictures posted up of my build later today, if I remember. I'm not used to taking pictures until long after my kits are completed yet though.
