Sorry this thread went seemingly unnoticed Phil.
I do believe Ralph was the original owner of both his F1s, but I can not absolutely confirm that. I am sure both were originally built with normal doors and then later had the high mirrors fitted by replacing the doors. This was done by the F1 service center in New Jersey according to one source. The original doors then went back into the boxes.
There were a lot of strange gaps in the F1 production sequence that are difficult to understand. My guess is that Ralph may have wanted the last car but was told it had already been promised to Mansour's brother, Aziz. Second to last is not so bad.
On your last question - in 2008 the car was photographed outside of a hotel in Geneva and I was later told that Lewis Hamilton had been the one driving it. Not a bad perk for him.
I an not sure of the validity of the sales ad - the proper way to sell the last F1 road car was not what we saw with that. It would have either been brokered in a very private sale or at the other end of the spectrum gone through a very public auction. In any event I have been told that the car is Mansour's now and that it is the only F1 he currently owns. Not 100% sure on its location but Geneva does make the most sense.
