I have a 5 speed manual. This morning I took a sharp turn and floored it a little and it popped out of gear. It started whining a lot. It doesn't matter if the car is in gear or neutral, it still whines. Soon after I parked and turned it off. When I started it up again, the whining cut down quite a bit--but it is still slightly present. It sounds like the whining is coming from the passenger side near the belt.
