Unless you are just stuck on imports, older mustangs can be acquired relatively cheap. 4.6 models are not as mod friendly as the older 5.0's buts stock they still have more power than the models you mention in your post. Yes I know everyone has them, which kinda sucks, but you do get a lot of bang for the buck in the horse power department. You can also look at Mark Viii's. Stock they are 290 hp. They are a bit weighted and expensive to repair, but you can probably acquire one for less than 2k. I have had one since 1998 and love it. Its a great sleeper and with the right mods can be an awesome car. because of it's weight, it's not the most agile car, but if you just want to blow by imports from 0-60, it's quite effective.
