Im sorry to hear that you thought it sucked. Sure, there were some problems with the storyline, but I actually thought it was quite good.
The monitor bit was quite funny. Most of the time in the movie you see monitors that slide up out of the desks, but they made that mistake at the end. Its just a simple flat-screen. Are they trying to tell us that monitors have not advanced in technology ANY between today, and then?
I really did like the action (specifically the ship battle), and if you can put aside some of the minor problems, its actually pretty good.
It was cool also, since its close to x-mas, the theatre is running movies in the afternoon on weekdays. First showing was at 12:50pm, so most ppl were either working or highschool kids are still supposed to be in class. There were only like 20ppl there then, and it was great. Perfect seats, no one talking and plenty of room to relax.
EDIT: It was DEFINITLY left open for another film. I know that some ppl were saying its the last one, but it was definitly set up. The following things make me belive this.
1. Enterprise was fully repaired at the end.
2. the B4 Android was whistling like data did on the holodeck (ST:TNG)
3. No other main characters were killed off.
Riker and Troi left for another ship, but I have no doubt that they will make another. Problem is, they better do it soon. Picard, Troi, and Riker are looking really old.
