Re: pulsating hum/whirl

Sounds like one of your wheel hubs is in need of replacement. I've replaced both of my front hubs and they both sounded like a single engine airplane. Noticed it at 30 mph and the noise increased with speed. A bad wheel hub doesn't always trip a ABS Trac light. To check a wheel bearing jack up the car and grab the tire at 12 o`clock and 6 o`clock and try to rock it up and down. if there is excessive play then you`ll need a new bearing. However, we don't always get "play" in the wheels if the hub is bad. Also you can go to an empty parking lot and do turns. Typically a bad wheel bearing will make more noise when it is loaded. So if you turn the car to the right, and the bearing makes more noise than it does when going straight or turning left, it's a pretty sure bet that the left bearing is bad and vice versa.
