The distance between the top and bottom ball joints is about 1 1/2" longer than the early spindles. It creates a geometry problem for the upper arms.

The rear is a little wider, IIRC, but not insurmountable. The rear discs are great. Add front discs, for sure, though. Master Power offers a real nice "kit" for the 1st gen 'bird. Anythig from a '69 Camaro or '69-'74 Nova, Ventura, Apollo or Omega will also "fit". Take spindles, rotors, calipers, et al. There were a handful of '67s made with the Kelsey-Hayes 4-piston caliper system. You MIGHT "get lucky" and find one.
