You're right about the pinstriping for the #17 car, which I was aware of from the Porsche issue of the old MRRN magazine. But unless you happen to be a die-hard Rodriguez fan, how could anyone choose the #18 over the #17, as the #17 scheme is so much more attractive?
. Unless you are lucky enough to be able to afford to build both... Unfortunately I am not, and I struggled for some time trying to decide whether to order the Gulf or the Martini version from Fisher. But the 36 years of looking at that fantastic double-page spread of the #17 in Jesse Alexander's "At Speed" book finally decided me.
And yes, I do realize how old that must make me
