Re: Tamiya Porsche 959

Well actually, yes there is. Forgive me that I forgot to post it, but I was very ill. I was recovering from cancer and that led to many long stops in my progress.

But now I'm healty again and I even finished the 959. Here is a quick summary of the build:

I first finished the engine:

Then I had to create the trunc space:

I also needed quite some time to figure out the brake assembly for the rear wheels. It seems that Porsche used a separate handbrake caliper. I've created one, using a white metal brake caliper.

A quick fit of the lights. You can still see a bit of puty to fill the gaps next to the lights.

And the last major stage is painting the body. After the primer coat, the car was sprayed in gloss black as a base coat:

After the base coat, the car was painted in Artic Silver from Zero Paints.

The interior also came out quite nice (in this picture the carpetting is still missing)

And when the finish line is insight, I always dryfit the whole car as a sneak review of the end result

The last thing I want to add are some of the problems you could run into with this kit:
The A pilar was slightly bend. Because the front window is placed from the outside, it sticks out a bit. I didn't want to put too much force on the assembled car, so I have to stick with this result:

The fans I made were nice, but didn't fit with the engine in place. The lid couldn't close anymore. I had to remove them

The last problem was with the exhaust system. Because the rearbumper is too thick, the exhaust forces the entire body 1mm to the front.

I didn't find a way to solve this, but hopefully you guys can learn from my mistakes.

Here is the photo shoot of the finished Porsche 959
