..and the easiest way to separate the brake drum from the shaft is this:
...jack up the wheel and LEAVE tire on
...pull the little hub cap out using a large flat screwdriver
...remove the four center shaft nuts
...use a heavy object to kick the tire sideways. This will unstick the brake drum from the flange...and hte whole wheel and drum can be taken away as a whole if you wish. YOu may have to giggle with it somewhat.
...Otherwise, you would have to remove the 2 phillips screws from the brake drum....these screws DO NOT hold the drum to the shaft: they are just there to be used as a tool : you would have first to uncrew them out(generally using acetylene torch to get them unstuck) ....then screw them back tight and tighter in the 2 other holes and use them to pull and unstick the drum as they contact the flange behind. I found the other way easier and the screws just stay where they are....
By the way, brake lining gets separated from the shoe when there is a slow brake fluid leak from the wheel brake cylinder....
