your going to need an A/C machine to safely discharge the freon. If you don't have access to one, go to a shop and have them remove it for you. Most shops are very reasonable, the one I work at only charges $20 to evacuate. If you start removing hoses before removing the freon, you'll have a huge mess and have freon get all over you.
