I fixed it!!!! Because of the tilt steering, the linkage between the ignition switch and the lock cylinder is in two pieces. One part has a slot in it and the other has a metal post that fits in the slot. The metal post came out. It took several times getting it put together to get it aligned and working properly.

Are you still out there tacomabobd? I have the same problem - can you give some more specifics on how to do this? Did you have to take the steering column out of the car or were you able to do it with the steering column still attached?
