ummmmm

Before my list:

- Sean Penn was not in the Shawshank Redemption. Nope sorry wasn't (sorry Ci5ic).

Peter Sellers (not Sellars - Peter Sellars is a fairly obscure director I'm assuming you mean the more famous actor) - Dr Strangelove or How I learned to love the Bomb. The movie is a classic and in the context of the cold war - a very telling piece of political sarcasm. He appears as Cpt Mandrake, President Muffey and Dr Strangelove. (nope he wasn't in Brazil either

Tim Roth - Archibald Cunningham in Rob Roy. The foppish but very evil illegitimate son of a noble - nasty piece of work.

Gary Oldman (aka Maurice Escargot) - a difficult actor to pin to a performance given the diversity and breadth of his skills. Norman Stansfield in Leon, Drexl Spivey in True Romance, Prince Vlad in Dracula, Sid in Sid and Nancy, Beethoven in Immortal Beloved or Mason Verger in Hannibal, Zorg in the 5th Element or Rev Dimmesdale in the Scarlet Letter. Hmmmm I think I'd have to go with Vlad myself.

Bob De Niro - Bob like Al Pacino has been marking time for a while. I think the last good movie he was in was Ronin. I think his performance as Vito Corleone in GF 2 is the pinnacle of his career.

Marlon Brando - it's a photo finish between The Wild One's Johnny Strebler and the Terry Malloy from On the Waterfront - in '54 Marlon was THE MAN

Christopher Walken - Nick in the Deer Hunter

Morgan Freeman - Ellis Boyd 'Red' Redding in Shawshank Redemption

Robert Carlyle - Begbie in Trainspotting - the raving lunatic violent nutter

Samuel Jackson - Jules in Pulp Fiction - the part that launched his career

Steve Buscemi - Garland 'the Marietta Mangler' Greene in Con Air

Clint Eastwood - Dirty Harry because that's how I remember him.

Sean Penn - Danny McGavin in Colors. He's good but he's been wasted with too many so so movies and scripts.
