Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24

Decided to give a little break from detaling and continue with carbon decals. I have to carbonize interior first to finish cabling and other details.

For those who are interested a short how to.

Templates – I make them for repeating decals or difficult shapes. I am working on Raybrig version as well and that’s why cockpit needs templates.
Tamiya tape and pencil

Tamiya tape put on paper and cut off.

Dry fitting before decal is prepared.

I prepare only one template for mirrored shapes. Just flip and cut.

I take special care about the part of shape which has to fit perfectly. In this case bottom of the decal is important, the top will fold down on the cockpit edge.

While cutting decal it is worth to remember a few things.

- Shape drawn on decal paper is a bit bigger than the template at least it's wider for a pencil line width
- Check carbon fibre pattern to mach it on each part of decals
- Draw shape on the decal paper not on the decal itself. Doing this this way saves the rest of the decal from damage
- When shape is curved I cut a bit bigger decal

I try to simplify shapes. I think it is much easier to cut two simple shapes than one more complicated. It saves your nerves especially while laying them down on the model.

Some progress pisc:
Decal: SMS 1024 (they have new shade and it is imho perfect), Microscale and Gunze decal solutions used.
