you could have a problem with the crankshaft position sensor losing its signal. The sensor sits right near the exhaust on the passenger side mounted on the transmission. There's supposed to be a heat shield around it to keep it from overheating, make sure that's there before going forward. Also check all your ground connections under the hood, make sure they aren't loose or corroded. A faulty ground would cause intermittent problems.
