I havent done any body modifications, but I did strip the paint and repaint the front and rear panels and some of the trim on my Camaro with spray cans. It took longer and required more manual labor, but was easier than a model in my opinion because the canvas is so big.
I am considering painting the whole car with spray cans, wet sanding it, and buffing it out to a show car finish all for less than $200. I figure it is only 12 times bigger than this Camaro which I painted with less than one can :
