I had the same problem described above on my 2002 Villager (98000 miles) with front blower only working on high (setting 4). Thanks for the advice about how to change the blower resistor- I was able to fix it myself! I got the part at a local auto parts store (murray's/o'reilly's) for $25 and it looks the same as the original (both were made in Mexico). The original was definitely bad- part of the metal plating on the resistor had flaked off. Mercury dealership quoted $43 for the part. My brother is an auto mechanic and he said this repair will work 99% of the time for any vehicle with this problem, and the part from local auto parts store should be fine.
