Did this check engine light just start after the new plugs and wires, or were the plugs and wires installed in an attempt to fix this? If the issue happened shortly after the plugs and wires, there's a good chance you either have a cracked plug in cylinder #2 or one end of the plug wire is not seated properly.
I'd focus on the cylinder misfire code first. If the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) were faulty you'd probably have a no-start condition and/or a random misfire code of P0300.
