Hi, have had same problem but hasn't died on the road. Crankshaft sensor code came up on a computer hand analyzer loaned to me. I cleared the code and I started the engine and engine light went out. But several times before it wouldn't start, or maybe 3rd or 4th time. What I did was disconnect the battery, both terminals, touch the two cables together, this will de-engergize any current in the electrical system. Reconnect the battery, I usually do the positive terminal first, then the neg. terminal.
This should reset the computer and it should start. Worked for me. But your problem could re occur at some point.
