While under my dad's '99 CV for other repairs, I noticed that the rear main seal is leaking. There is also some indication that the rear seal on the transmission tail piece is leaking. How difficult would it be to remove/reinstall the transmission with the vehicle up on jack stands in the driveway? Approximately how much does the transmission weigh? Is there some kind of a transmission lift that is small enough to fit under a vehicle on jack stands? I won't have a problem replacing the rear main seal once the transmission is removed, but what does it take to replace the rear seal on the transmission?
