i found the problem with the deck.
breif history:
i bought the car from a nissan authorized dealership that gets nissans that have been either stolen or banged up alittle. anyway mine was a stolen recovery. they stole the car and the system that was in it at the time... had the dealership wire the harness for me before i took the car.
turns out that some asshole newbee decided to run the power for the dash lights (get this!) off of the front right speaker!!!

anyway when i turned the dash lights on, there was a quick flash of 12v backfed into the deck. as a safety precaution the radio turns its amp off of this happens. anyway i rewired it.
Still cant figure out the amp though.
