Actually both. The S10 (77-79), S110 (80-83) and 84 S12's were labelled Datsuns in the US, as were most other Nissans. In the early '80s Nissan was phasing out the Datsun name. My '82 200SX had this nameplate:
With the '85 model year, all use of the Datsun name ended.
