Sure, putting an exhaust manifold that meets american standards sounds easy and can be done, but there is cost issue for Honda. Why should they take the time and money to redesign the exhaust of the type r for only a few thousand units being sold to America? It would be logical and a more effective use of money were there at least 20,000 to 50,000 units being sold. But for a business, it can be considered by some as impractical to do all these mods for a few inconsequential sales in the states.
