Sounds like either your daughter has pushed the twig in and damaged the ignition switch, damaged the tumblers in the lock cylinder or damaged the passlock sensor. My best bet would be to replace the lock cylinder. If you want to, you can take it to a dealer and they can usually rebuild your old lock cylinder for a little less, but probably the cheapest and easiest way is to just replace the ignition lock cylinder. You can get one aftermarket for about $100 and labor time is about 1 hour so it shouldnt cost much if you wanna take it to a repair shop to have them install it. Hope this helps.
